36 Pick-Up

It’s time to cue the Slash solo once again, because nothing lasts forever, even David Tennant’s reign!

After five years and 36 stories, Tennant has given the role of BBC’s "Doctor Who" to another actor. I must admit that I’ve enjoyed the Tenth Doctor’s adventures as much as my favorite Doctor – Tom Baker’s Fourth! It could be convincingly argued that Tennant’s tenure on the show as the last Time Lord has been instrumental in the show’s recent success.

"Doctor Who" has always had good acting and terrific writing, but now the BBC has given the show a decent budget for special effects. While that may please the fanboy in me, the main reason why "Doctor Who" now has universal appeal is that David Tennant made his portrayal of the Doctor sexy – confirmed by my nieces squealing when Tennant appeared at last year’s Comic-Con!

I do plan on watching the adventures of the Eleventh Doctor, but I’m sad that Tennant’s era as the last Time Lord has finally come to an end this month.

And as one show winds down, another show winds up…
Starting its 36th episode after a nine month layoff, "Chuck" comes back for yet another season on NBC. As much as the network is touting Chuck’s new abilities, his main focus is still simple: he wants to do a good job and win the girl’s heart. Granted, the job is being the US Government’s most important asset and the girl in question is the incredibly good-looking CIA super-spy Sarah, but you get the idea.

I’m surprised that "Chuck" barely got renewed last year. It’s a rare all-ages family show. My nieces, mother and Pretty Vacant fans (hey there!) all watch. And why not? No other television show currently blends comedy, action and romance as well as "Chuck"! I just wish that the producers would finally let Chuck and Sarah be together.

I eagerly await Season Three of "Chuck", because nothing lasts forever, even Chuck and Sarah’s pain!

(Okay, I’m going to stop the November Rain gag – unless I can come up with another cool variation!)

Update: I’m thoroughly enjoying this current season. However, Chuck and Sarah are still not together, darn the luck!
